Young Men Mental Health

Having recently read a fb post about a young man who recently completed suicide. He was avid Dublin GAA supporter. He looked very happy with his mates wearing the Dublin Jersey in the photo.

Depression as we know can have many faces. No one knows what’s goes on in someone’s mind. I recently attended a course, there was a student from NZ there,  he told me they too have a problem with young male suicide.  It appears that our young men are struggling in a society that there are so many pressures in being a man.  The stereotype of the strong male who shows no emotion is prevalent in today’s society as when I was growing up.

So to the young men out there. There is no shame in reaching out. You are not a lesser man for doing so, indeed you’re a strong man for reaching out.
